JAMMU, June 1: Bhagat Mahasabha J&K observed the 49th Shaheedi Devas of ‘Martyr of Reservation’ Shaheed Bhagat Amar Nath who achieved martyrdom on June 1, 1970 while fighting for the cause of reservation to dalits here.
On this occasion reserved category people paid homage to the martyr.
Addressing the gathering Mahinder Bhagat, President Bhagat Mahasabha threw light on the life of Bhagat Amar Nath and said that he was very committed and determined to sacrifice even his life for the victimised, deprived and exploited downtrodden masses.
He further informed that demanding reservation for downtrodden communities in J&K, Amar Nath sat on fast unto death on May 21, 1970 and achieved martyrdom on June 1 that year.
Jai Bhagat, State Coordin-ator Bhagat Mahasabha appealed the people to remember the sacrifice of Bhagat Amar Nath and follow his footsteps.
