JAMMU, May 8: Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti was celebrated with great religious fervor and enthusiasm across the Jammu region by Brahman Sabhas and several other organizations.
Impressive Shobha Yatras (Jhankis) of Bhagwan Parshuram were also taken out at several places in which a large number of people participated.
Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha Parade Ground offered special prayers and performed Hawan on this auspicious occasion. This religious programme was held at Sabha Bhawan Parade under the chairmanship of Ved Parkash Sharma, president of the Sabha along with Dev Raj Sharma, Satya Nand Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma, Subhash Shastri, J N Sharma, PC Sharma and others.
Hawan was performed amidst chanting of vedic Mantras by renowned Sanskrit Scholar Pt Krishan Lal Shastri. Parsad was also offered to the devotees present on the occasion in large number.
Yet another function was organised in this connection by the members of Brahman Sabha Jammu and Kashmir and Bawa Kailakh Dev Parbandhak Committee at Kailakh Dev Sthan, Raipur-Ban Talab today. The function commenced with Bhajan Kirtan of Bhagwan Parshuram and then a Hawan was also performed.
Shakti Dutt Sharma, president Brahman Sabha Jammu and Kashmir spoke on the life history of Bhagwan Parshuram, who is 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He said the word Parshurama is derived from two words Parshu means axe and Rama means Lord Rama. So, literally the world Parshurama means Rama with an axe. With the passage of time the ancient scriptures were diluted by Britishers and some other vested interests to create division in the society and create hatred among them. He appealed the people from all the communities to maintain brotherhood and amity.
A community langar was also arranged for the devotees. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Brahman Sabha chairman, Dr Chander Mauli Raina, Mahant Rohit Shastri, BJP leader Munish Sharma, Shastri Dev Dutt, Rajinder Singh, Sunil Raka, Zorawar Singh, Ram Paul Seth and Sarpanch Raj Dev Singh.
Parshuram Jayanti was also celebrated at Reasi, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch. At Kathua, Udhampur and Poonch towns impressive Shobha Yatras were taken out by the people. Tableaux on the mythical character of Bhagwan Parshuram were the part of Shobha Yatras. A large number of women and children also participated in the Jhankis. At Udhampur town, besides general public inmates of Gurukul of ISCON Temple Udhampur also participated in impressive Shobha Yatra of Bhagwan Parshuram. Officers from District Administration were also accompanying Jhankis. Elaborate security arrangements were made.
In Poonch the Shobha Yatra was taken out under the supervision of Satpal Sharma, president District Brahman Sabha, Darshan Bharti general secretary , Dr S D Sharma, Satish Shasan president SD Sabha Poonch. In the morning special prayers and Hawan were performed by the devotees.
Reports of similar functions have also received from various other parts of the State.
