JAMMU, Nov 16: The annual festival of Bhairav Ashtami was today celebrated at Pracheen Bhairav Mandir in Chowk Chabutra area in the heart of Jammu city.
Mahant of the temple, Pandit Rumil Sharma informed that the celebrations started with Poojan, Snan of Dand of Bawa Ji (an annual event), Kanya Pujan, Jangam Pujan and Batuk Pujan.
After these rituals Bhandara was started and it continued till late in the evening.
The Mahant said that the temple was today opened at 4 am and will close tomorrow midnight and the Bhandara will be organised tomorrow also.
“Special Arti was organised today evening on pattern of Ujjain,” Rumil Sharma said adding that ‘Kashat Haran Stotar Paath’ was also recited by the Sanskrit scholars at the temple to adore Shri Bhairav Dev Ji.
“Rot (a big chapatti made of flour and jaggery) was also distributed among the devotees and Shiv Vivah was organised in the night in which Hawan was performed which will culminate at 5 am tomorrow.
The organisers have invited all to join the Bhandara tomorrow and get blessings of the deity.
