JAMMU, Mar 23: Seeking votes for party candidate for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, senior party leader and Minister for Housing, Culture and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that Madan Lal Sharma has done commendable works for his constituency and represented his people in Parliament ably.
Addressing public meetings at Preet Nagar and Channi Himmat and while opening offices at Karan Bagh and Bahu Fort, Raman Bhalla urged people not to fall prey to divisive forces which are hell bent upon disintegrating country in the name of religion or region.
In post independence era, only Congress has been able to tap natural resources, build mega dams, set up industrial houses, built road networks, bring in revolution in agriculture sector and generate enough employment for our youth. Contrarily, BJP ever since its existence had been trying to divide people in the name of religion and region merely to snatch power.
Congress, be it at Centre or State, Raman Bhalla said stands for equitable development of people. The space programmes, headway in science and technology, largest network of railways, better health care systems, fulfilling housing needs, massive industrialisation and schemes for upliftment of poor and downtrodden have all been the contributions of Congress party.
He further said that Congress was not a party but a movement that has led the nation to stand at the threshold of being a super economic power. He urged people to assess for themselves the development done by Congress-NC coalition during past five years and vote for Madan Lal Sharma.
He urged people to strengthen hands of All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Sonia Gandhi by sending Madan Lal Sharma to Parliament and defeat communal forces.
