Bhalla dashes letter to HM for hike in cash relief for migrants

JAMMU, Sept 7: Minister of Revenue Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has urged the Government of India to expedite the process regarding enhancement of cash relief in favour of displaced people from Kashmir Valley.
In a communiqué addressed to Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Mr Bhalla drew his attention towards the plight of displaced people from Kashmir Valley and prevailing unrest among them over the delay in enhancement of cash relief.
The letter further said that some of the migrants have resorted to hunger strike demanding enhancement of cash relief and if the same is delayed this will aggravate the already tense situation.
He said the situation may turn worse if immediate steps are not taken to address the demands of the displaced people from Valley.
In this connection Mr Bhalla has also referred to revised rehabilitation package for Kashmiri migrants which has been duly approved by State Cabinet and submitted to Union Home Ministry some time back for their approval and sanction.
The letter stated that recently a delegation of Cogress Party led by Pradesh Congress chief Prof Saif -ud_Din Soz of which he (Mr Bhalla ) was also a member during a meeting with Union Home Minister at New Delhi submitted a memorandum of demands relating to the refugees/ displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971 where in the demand of Kashmiri Pandits was also put forth as articulated in the revised package.
Mr Bhalla while terming the matter of an urgent nature stressed that fast tracked procedure be applied in settling the issue. Such a gesture from the Union Government would help in resolving the present fluid situation, the letter added.
