BATOTE, June 20: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said that the Government has launched a number of welfare schemes to improve the socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the society.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a gathering after inaugurating multipurpose community hall, here last evening.
Member Parliament Ch Lal Singh, MLA Ashok Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Ramban Shabir Ahmed Bhat besides other senior officers of R&B, PHE, Revenue and RDD accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Bhalla said that hall has been constructed over an area of 4370 sq ft at an estimated cost of Rs. 39 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete other works including fixation of paver tiles, construction of kitchen, toilet block besides modernization of approach steps to the community hall, which is part of the project, within stipulated time frame.
The Minister said that with the completion of the community hall, the people of Batote and its adjoining localities would be able arrange their social as well as religious functions on nominal fee. He called upon the people to protect public property in their respective areas meant for their use.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Government was making all out efforts to develop hilly as well as far-off areas of the Ramban district on modern lines by providing infrastructural facilities at par with twin capital cities of the State.
Later, the Minister also chaired a meeting of officers and reviewed the arrangements made by the district administration from Batote to Banihal for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Yatra which is being started from June 25.
Mr. Bhalla issued necessary instruction to the officers with regard to security, traffic regulation, accommodation and healthcare arrangements for the pilgrims during yatra days and also to meet emergency situation including inclement weather conditions.
The Minister called upon the religious, social and volunteer organizations besides business community particularly associated with yatra to cooperate with the Government in providing better facilities to the Shri Amarnath. He asked them to help the district administration in regulation of rates and keeping a check on overcharging by the hoteliers and transporters operating from Batote to Srinagar.
