JAMMU, June 18: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today dedicated newly upgraded receiving station to the people of the Sainik Colony.
Upgraded with the installation of another 6.3 MVA transformer and other infrastructure involving a cost of Rs. 1.23 crore, the augmentation of the existing receiving station has helped to improve the power scenario in Sainik Colony and its adjoining areas.
Superintending Engineer M&RE, Gurbachan Singh, Executive Engineer, Sub-Transmission Division-II, Jammu besides people in large number from Sainik Colony were present on the occasion.
Interacting with the people, the Minister informed that Government was making all out efforts to improve power scenario in the State by up-gradation of infrastructure and creation of power projects.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Government has earmarked Rs. 6.40 crore for augmentation and creation of new receiving stations in Gandhi Nagar constituency as part of its programme to modernize power transmission and distribution network in the State. He said this would help to overcome the problem of low voltage and frequent power breakdowns, adding that instructions have been issued to Power Development Department (PDD) to submit a detailed project report identifying the areas where there was a need to upgrade and build new stations.
He called upon the people to disclose their load voluntarily so that the Government could take steps to up-grade the infrastructure as per the actual load, adding that it would also help to improve power supply scenario and to avoid breakdowns.
He said Government was committed to provide uninterrupted power supply to metered areas of the State.
“For improving power scenario in Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal, Digiana, Rani Talab, Nanak Nagar and Nai Basti, Government has earmarked Rs. 2.77 crore for creation of 33/11 KVA receiving station at Shastri Nagar,” the Minister said, adding that the work on the station is under progress and would be dedicated to the people within one month after proper testing.
Earlier, Mr. Bhalla also met several deputations of Rajouri, Poonch, Sunderbani, Sunjwan, Bathindi, Babliana, Jammu East and Jammu West and listened to their demands which were mostly related to provision for drinking water supply and better power supply.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and asked the PDD and PHE officers to personally look into their grievances and solve the same without any delay.
