SRINAGAR, July 16: Stressing on expediting land acquisition process, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that land acquisition has direct bearing with the development scenario and infrastructure building.
Chairing a high level meeting of Collectors of Kashmir Division, the Minister called for pacing up disbursement of compensation to the rightful owners. “No rightful owner of land and structures coming in the acquisition process should suffer any longer”, he stressed and emphasised upon the senior revenue officers to ensure complete transparency in making the payment to the land owners.
The meeting was attended among other by Financial Commissioner, Revenue K.B. Aggarwal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Revenue, B.A. Rounyal, Settlement Commissioner, L .Z. Deva, Settlement Officer, G.M. Dar and other senior revenue officers.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Minister expressed his concern over slow progress of Roshni Act and called for focusing on its implementation to mop up resources as envisaged under the revolutionary legislation.
He stressed on expediting settlement operation, so that records are up dated and the land management is streamlined. He said that settlement is fundamental aspect in the land management and measures need to be put in place to complete the process at the earliest. He was informed that settlements of 879 villages have been completed till date.
He asked revenue officers to restore dignity of revenue courts by making transparency and fast disposal as bench mark in their functioning.
The Minister directed for conducting frequent inspections so that constant vigil is kept on the working of field functionaries like Girdwaras and Patwaries.
He also asked the concerned revenue officers to immediately dispose of the cases regarding issuing of Permanent Resident Certificates so that that the needy do not face any kind of inconvenience.
