JAMMU, Apr 13: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today reiterated his concern to Government to take immediate measures and scale up response to treat, detect and reduce transmission for saving people’s lives.
“The Government must also aggressively step up towards response measures like find, isolate, test, treat and trace. There is an urgent need to further strengthen and intensify surveillance and build capacity of the health system. Congress stands together in solidarity with the Government to overcome this unprecedented challenge,” said Bhalla.
He said the community kitchens should be started in J&K as per the guidelines of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi.
He pointed out mobility restrictions and excessive fear have also hit the attendance of frontline health workers to basic healthcare provisions during pregnancy, delivery care and new-born healthcare.
Though, these essential services are available, but non-availability of transport facilities and the fear of infections hamper access to them. The Government must use the private sector services, which hold 62% of hospital beds in the country, instead of shutting them down.
He urged the Centre to ensure that the financial aid and other relief measures were provided to the poor without any further delay and make use Government’s infrastructure if the need arises.
Bhalla also appealed to leaders of all political parties to ensure that food, ration and other essential commodities reach the poor, destitute and helpless people during this lockdown.
Meanwhile, Bhalla continued distribution of food items among needy persons on Monday in different areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
