Bhalla inspects Gladni Grid Station, reviews upgradation works

JAMMU, Aug 3: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, today said that Government has allocated Rs. 5 crore for augmentation of 132/33 KV transformation from 100 MVA to 150 MVA at Gladni Grid Station, Narwal, to cater to the electricity needs of people in Gandhi Nagar, Chhani Himmat, Nanak Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Sainik Colony, Bathindi, Transport Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Bahu Fort, Residency Road and Panjthirthi.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the PDD officers at a meeting held at summer secretariat after inspecting the pace of progress on upgradation works at Gladni Grid Station, Narwal.
Chief Engineer, M&RE, Shehnaz Goni, Chief Engineer, System and Operation, Ajay Gupta besides other senior engineers of Power Development Department were present on the occasion.
Referring to hardships of people of Jammu due to prevailing hot summer season and unscheduled power cuts, the Minister said that the Government has approved Rs. 200 crore for purchase of additional power to further improve power scenario in the region. He said an additional 400 MW power has been supplied to the people of Jammu district since yesterday thus ensuring fluctuation free and regular power supply to the people.
The Minister said with the commissioning of 50 MVA, 132/33 KV transformer the additional curtailment would be minimized.
In order to overcome overloading on receiving stations at Ashok Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Canal Satwari line, Sainik Colony, Greater Kailash, Nanak Nagar, Chatha, Gaddigarh and 33 KV lines in Jammu district, Mr. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 768.67 lakh for segregation of AN-2 and AN-4 feeders by way of installation of new 11 KV VCB panel alongwith accessories, thickening, re-conductoring of 33 KV Canal-Satwari line, augmentation from 1×6.3 MVA to 2×6.3 and 2x10MVA to 3x10MVA including thickening of 33 KV G-3 capacity besides shifting of partial load from loaded stations.
For providing adequate and regular drinking water facilities to Bathindi, Sunjwan, Narwal, Chatta and Raika areas inhabitants, the Minister said Government has released Rs. 49 lakh for boosting water supply through Boria Intake Filteration Plant in there areas. He said 80% works have been completed and remaining works are in progress.
Earlier, at Rani Talab, Dasmash Nagar and Jeevan Nagar of Digiana, Mr. Bhalla kick started construction and upgradation works of lanes and drains, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 19 lakh. He asked the JMC to complete the projects within stipulated time frame by using quality material and fixing of paver, interlock tiles with grating facilities in the areas.
