Bhalla inspects pace of work on community hall

JAMMU, Dec 19: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has called upon the people to be partners in the development of the State as they were the main stakeholders in the process.
The Minister was interacting with the residents of Bahu Fort after inspecting the pace of work on Ravi Dass community hall being constructed in the area.
The hall would be completed   at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.29 crore under R&B sector.
Interacting with the locals, Mr. Bhalla said that the Government was making all out efforts to provide better infrastructure and amenities to the people. He called upon the people to extend their cooperation and keep   watch on the implementation of schemes for better results on the ground.
The Minister said that the Government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State at their doorsteps, adding that various development projects have been initiated   to facilitate the public.
Mr. Bhalla also directed the PHE and PDD functionaries to replace worn out water supply pipes and power wires  before the start of up-gradation work of lanes and drains in the area. He asked the Urban Engineering Environment Department (UEED) to immediately start the modernization work of nallah at Skeikh Nagar, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 5 lakh.
The Minister said that the main focus of the Government was to develop every corner of the State on modern lines, for which liberal funding has been provided by the Central Government to the State Government.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government has approved various prestigious projects under Tourism Sector in Jammu region to boost lucrative tourism industry , adding that construction work on artificial lake was in full swing and would be completed  in fixed time frame at an estimated cost of Rs 110 crore. Other major projects like Peer Kho to Bahu Fort Ropeway (Gandola) would also be started soon at a cost of Rs 47 crore , he added.
The Minister informed that Government has released Rs. 95.70 crore for construction of flyover from Bikram Chowk to Convent School,    widening from of Bikram Chowk to Satwari to 8 lane. He said the projects would be started soon for the convenience of the people.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government was taking several steps to develop Bahu Fort area, which is one of the fast emerging pilgrims destination in the State by providing modern line way side facilities to the devotees and tourists.
