JAMMU, July 11: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla, today said that objective of the Government is to develop every corner of the state with improved basic amenities, adding that in this connection a revised Master Plan for urban pockets is being implemented.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation stone of double storey multipurpose community hall at Bhagat Mohalla in Narwal Bala, here this afternoon.
Bhalla asked the executing agency Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) to gear up their men and machinery in completing the hall within stipulated time frame, adding that for the purpose, Government has released Rs. 20 crore. He said that the poor lot of the locality has faced a lot of problems due to non-availability of this vital facility.
The Minister further said that on completion of the double storey multipurpose community hall, the poor lot of the Narwal Bala and its adjoining areas would be able to arrange their social as well as religious functions on minimum fee. He said Government was on the job to provide all the basic amenities to the poor in these basties at par with town and city area.
Earlier, at Rahim Nagar in Narwal, the Minister conducted a public redressal grievances camp where he listened to the development related issues of the Rajiv Nagar and Rahim Nagar people.
Bhalla solved all the projected problems on-the-spot and referred the remaining issues to the concerned departments for early redressal.
Regarding modernization of Rahim Nagar nallah, the Minister asked the Urban Engineering Environment Department (UEED) to start the project, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 7 lakh. He asked them to complete it within week time so that the locals do not face any difficulty due to flash floods in rainy season.
Mr. Bhalla informed that Government has spent Rs. 55 lakh for training the Karayani Talab-Rajiv Nagar nallah including construction of deep drain. He further said that Government has spent Rs. 50 lakh for construction of Rahim Nagar-Rajiv Nagar link road.
Later, the Minister accompanied by Chief Engineer M&RE Shahnaz Goni visited Nanak Nagar and listened to the power supply related problems of the people.
Mr. Bhalla on-the-spot asked the Chief Engineer M&RE to install two new transformers atleast 10 MVA capacity so that uninterrupted and fluctuation free power to be provided to the people of the area.
On the direction of the Minister, Mrs. Goni agreed and directed the PDD officers to immediately start the job for installation of two transformers in the area for the convenience of general masses. She said due to increase of population and load, the people of the locality has faced lot of problems due to low voltage.
