JAMMU, May 14: Minister for Revenue Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla   reviewed the essential services delivery scenario in Jammu and its peripheries, besides the arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, at a high level meeting here today.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pardeep Gupta apprised the Minister about the arrangements being made by the administration for the smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra.
During the meeting, the Chief Engineer PHE, B R Dogra apprised the Minister about the drinking water supply scenario in the city and its peripheries. He informed that those areas which are facing problem due to shortage of water are being supplied the same through tankers.
Mr Bhalla issued instruction to the Power Development Department (PDD) to gear up for meeting the challenges and requirements during the summer season in the city and its peripheries. He particularly stressed that the essential services should not suffer due to power breakdowns and  electric division heads should monitor every activity in their areas of jurisdiction personally.   He asked PHE and PDD to work in   coordination so that the people don’t face  any inconvenience.
Chief Engineer, PDD sought the help of the Minister in making sufficient transformers available at the workshops for early replacement of the damaged transformers in various localities, the frequency of which has increased with the increasing load during the summer season.
Mr Bhalla assured Chief Engineer that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authority for immediate solution.  The Minister also sought the details about the stock and supply position of    ration, particularly  to the rural areas. He asked the Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) to supply the ration as per the scale announced by the Chief Minister.
Mr Bhalla asked the JMC to modernize the parks in Jammu city , while the R&B was asked to take in hand black topping of roads before the Amarnath Yatra. The Jammu Municipal Commissioner assured the Minister that all necessary works will be completed in shortest time.
On the occasion, the Minister also instructed the concerned to take measures to ensure better power supply to the Jagati Township. He also asked the concerned officers to clear the pending cases under “Roshni” scheme, besides meeting the aspirations and demands of the   refugees.
Earlier, the Minister also visited the Rampur Park and inspected the pace of work . He  also launched the  black topping work at Chatta road and  renovation of  lanes and drains   at Preet Nagar taken up at a cost of Rs.35 lakh and Rs.6.33 lakh respectively.
