Bhalla reviews rescue, relief operation at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Sept 13: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla today said that large number of people trapped in the floods were rescued by Army, SDRF, NDRF, police etc from flood hit areas of Kashmir valley to safer place.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the stranded people at Srinagar Airport here today.
Mr. Bhalla expressed sympathies with the affected families and issued directions to the officers to immediately undertake rescue operations so that the loss of life could be minimized.
The Minister directed the Revenue Officers for carrying out assessment of losses to ensure immediate relief to the affected people. He asked the district administration to provide medicines, tents, tarpals, ration and other required faclities for all the flood hit families.
Mr. Bhalla called upon the people to help the Government in relief operation. He enquired about the prevailing situation at different villages of Kashmir valley and assured of all required help by the administration.
Regarding restoration of damaged public infrastructure including road connectivity, drinking water supply, power, the Minister asked the concerned officers to ensure that all works are done on priority so that damages are restricted to the minimum and people do not suffer due to non availability of required men and machinery.
Later, various stranded families of Jammu met the Minister and requested him for provided air services for Jammu. The Minister asked the district administration and Army to provide air services to stranded families.
