JAMMU, Nov 2: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today urged the BJP Government not to take any decision that would precipitate a crisis in Jammu and Kashmir and asked it to ensure the constitutional guarantees are maintained.
Bhalla expressed deep concern over various unverified and uncalled for statements from various quarters which were creating an atmosphere of panic and apprehension about the intentions of the Government. He said unprecedented advisories being issued to the tourists, yatris and other civilians, are all creating an atmosphere of heightened insecurity and fear.
Interacting with the people here today Congress leader alleged that the Modi Govt has failed to understand that distress in society and smooth functioning of economy do not go hand in hand. He criticised the BJP for misguiding people in various parts of the country for gaining power. He said that youth are the most affected due to the hollow policies of BJP Government at the Centre. “Instead of providing jobs the BJP leaders are playing with the sentiments and future of unemployed youth of J&K State,” he added.
Former minister urged upon the BJP Govt to fill the 50,000 posts in the Jammu and Kashmir State announced by it. He said that youth is affected by the rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. He accused the previous regime of BJP for its failure to provide jobs to the educated youth.
He alleged that the previous `alliance government’ had promoted corruption and nepotism in the State. He said that previous regime of BJP has totally failed to address the problems of the people of the State. “BJP has failed to address the problems and the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifolds,” he added.
Claiming that Jammu and Kashmir is passing through various kinds of restrictions leading to economic slowdown, Bhalla urged the Centre and local administration to consider “genuine demands” of business community. The failure of the Centre and State Government to respond to the genuine demands of people to extend date for ITR and to defer implementation of harsh Motor Vehicles Act, and extension of GST date, has dismayed the people when they are very much hard pressed on economic front. He said there seems no logic to reject the most genuine and justified demands in the wake of prevailing situation.
