JAMMU, May 9: In connection with ‘Akshya Tritiya’, a mass bhandara was organized today for devotees at Shri Bhairav Temple, Chowk Chabutra.
The bhandara organized by Shri Bhairav Mandir Trust, was started at 12 noon and concluded at about 4 pm. On the occasion, hundreds of devotees from various parts of Jammu thronged the Temple to take blessings of Baba Bhairav Nath Ji. They also took Prasad of Baba ji.
The Babaji’s temple was decorated with flowers and electric lights while his idol was decorated with Akshaton (rice). Earlier, Havan-poojan was also organized in the Temple in which devotees also gave ‘Purnaahuti’.
While speaking on the occasion, Pandit, Rumil Sharma explained the devotees the importance of ‘Akshay Tritiya’. He said, “It was the day of ‘Akshya Tritiya’ when Lord Krishna and His best friend ‘Sudama’ had met. Maa Annapurna was also born on this day while Akshya Kumar, the son of lord Brahma Ji took avtar on the earth on this day”.
“On this day Kuber ji had got ‘Khajana’ and that is why people use to buy gold on this day”, he said, adding this day is itself an auspicious occasion to start any new and good work, as ‘Satyug’ and ‘Tretayug’ also started on this day.
