JAMMU, Oct 31: Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Jammu has asserted that every household in Jammu will get tapped water under Central Government’s flagship programme Jal Jeevan Mission.
He said that this scheme envisioned to by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s under which every household in the region rather across the nation will have the provision of tapped water before December 2022.
He expressed this while addressing people after inaugurating the works on two water supply schemes here, today.
The DDC Chairman informed that the two water supply schemes include WSS Dhoomi and WSS Gurha Pattan which are aimed at providing tap water to every house hold in these two areas including their peripheries. The two projects under the scheme include construction of two over-head tanks, one at Dhoomi and the second at Gurha Pattan which will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs. 4.63 crore. The scheme comprised of overall laying of new distribution pipes and stand by machinery will also be taken up so that there will be no scarcity of water under the Central Government’s prestigious Jal Jeevan Mission programme, he added.
The DDC Chairman said that Central Government led by Narendra Modi has put special focus on the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir and its people. He said that this can be well gauged from the fact that the Jammu district has got a major share of over Rs. 931 crore under this scheme which will cater to the needs of population upto next 50 years.
Bharat Bhushan said that on the completion of these two projects on which work has been started today, the people of the aforesaid areas shall undoubtedly heave a sigh of relief. He asserted that gone are the days when women had to travel miles to fetch a pot of water, for which the nation salutes the visionary ideas of the Prime Minister, Modi.
Meanwhile, the DDC Chairman took stock of problems and issues of the people of the area during interaction with them and assured them of getting the same addressed at the earliest.
BDC Chairman Kuldeep Raj, Executive Engineer PHE, Brahm Jyott Sharma, Mandal president, Ashok Kerni, BJP Polling Booth presidents Ashok Kumar and Parshotam Singh and Members of Pani Samiti were also present on the occasion.
