Bharat Bhushan urges LG to provide adequate compensation to hail-storm affected farmers

JAMMU, Oct 13: DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to provide adequate compensation to the farmers of Jammu who lost their standing crops in the recent hailstorm on October 9.
In a statement issued here today, the DDC Chairman raised serious concern over the loss of Paddy crops due to incessant hailstorm that completely damaged the standing crops of farmers in several areas of Jammu. He mentioned that more than 75 percent Paddy crop have damaged in the recent hailstorm. He appealed the Divisional Administration and District Administration to direct the Revenue Department for assessing the loss of damaged crops.
The DDC Chairman said the Modi Government at the Centre stands fully committed to the welfare of the farmers who deserve special attention especially in view of their being the food producers of the nation.
He appealed the LG Manoj Sinha to issue necessary directions to the Revenue officials for speeding up the process of assessing the damaged crops so that the farmers would get timely compensation of their damaged crops. He also demanded that the farmers who have ‘Fasal Bima’ should be compensated immediately on priority basis.
