JAMMU, Jan 15: Former DyCM Tara Chand was today accorded a rousing reception in Akhnoor on his maiden visit after rejoining Congress. He was received by huge gathering of people with bikes and cars who received him enroute with beat of drums.
Thousands of his supporters thronged the road and took him in a huge procession to Akhnoor. The huge procession resulted in road blockade and suspension of vehicular traffic on the said route.
Addressing huge gathering, Tara Chand said, “ we will bring change by doing positive politics of Jammu and Kashmir for the welfare of the people. Only Congress can deliver what they promise.”
He said today inflation is toucing the sky. People are suffering at every sphere and only Congress can give justice to them. He said Congress has huge acceptance in both divisions Jammu and Kashmir. He said that educated youth of Jammu Kashmir is suffering because of poor politics by traditional parties including BJP in Jammu.
Referring to all round development of Khour, Tara Chand said that this constituency is number one in road connectivity and numerous development projects have improved the development profile of the far-flung border area, adding that during his tenure in Govt multi-crore model cluster villages projects in rural areas equipped with all modern facilities.
Tara Chand further said that BJP not only cheated people of J&K, they bluffed the people who voted them to power. None of the poll promises have yet been fulfilled.
Seeking huge support to ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in J&K, Tara Chand said three primary objectives of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ are to understand and address the economic inequality in the country; bring communities closer while respecting their uniqueness, and awaken the masses against the wrong policies of BJP Govt. Yatra has changed the history of the country, this yatra will change the future of the country, Tara Chand added.
Balwan Singh also spoke on the occasion and said that ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will remain in history like how Gandhi’s struggle was remembered. It is a journey that will change the future of the country, he said.
Senior leaders TS Bajwa (Ex-MP), Bushan Dogra, Badri Nath Sharma, Varun Magotra, Santosh Manhas, Jagattar Singh, Madan Sharma, Daljeet Singh, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Om Prakash Sharma, Devinder Singh Chib, Dwarka Nath BDC chairman, Hans Raj Bhagat were also present.
