JAMMU, Nov 8: The resplendent Bharat Milaap celebrations took center stage on the second day of the Jammu Deepawali Mahotsav 2023, enchanting Apsara Road in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
This extraordinary event, led by Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary to Government, Tourism Department, Jammu & Kashmir, and Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism Jammu, showcased a strong commitment to preserving the cultural heritage.
Collaboration between the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, Apsara Road Traders Association, Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, and other bodies, the Bharat Milaap celebrations spanned November 7th and 8th, 2023.
The event paid tribute to Lord Ram’s triumphant return to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile and his heart-warming reunion with his beloved brother, Bharat.
On the second day, the 2023 Bharat Milap spectacle began at Laxmi Narayan Mandir Main Gate, continued to the sacred Doodhadari Mandir, and concluded at the vibrant Gole Market, the second Milap Point.
Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, hailed the event as a cultural masterpiece that venerates our heritage and promotes unity and brotherhood.
The event featured captivating cultural performances and showcased local art and craft, including exquisite Basohli Art Pottery items and Raisin Art, aiming to rekindle these traditions.
Prominent ex-legislators and dignitaries, including Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister; Priya Sethi, Yudvir Sethi, Gulcharan Singh Charak, Anil Kohli, and others, graced the occasion.
In another event, Igniter Fest 2023 at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Sunaina Sharma Mehta served as the main panellist.
She discussed the department’s programs and policies, highlighting the Home Stay policy, and welcomed suggestions from participants and the audience.
She also touched upon the development of adventure sites in Jammu and the FAM tour organized by the Department for international paragliders, providing them with a firsthand experience of water sports at Aithem, Dhanwa, and Ranjit Sagar Lake in Basohli.
Sharma emphasized Jammu’s tourism potential and the platform’s role in bringing together CEOs from prominent national start-ups for panel discussions.
