JAMMU, Dec 28: A meeting of Bharat Nagar Enclave, Bantalab Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of M.K.Pandita, its president, in which various issues concerning the people of the area were discussed.
The Committee, while highlighting its problems expressed serious concern over the issue of not covering the Bharat Nagar Enclave into the Municipal limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) when the JMC area was extended up to Kotbhalwal and beyond many years ago. The Committee urged the LG administration to look into the matter personally to ascertain the reasons of not covering this area into the municipal limits as the entire population of this area is deprived of all the facilities provided by the JMC.
The Committee also expressed concern about the dilapidated condition of bye lanes. No macadamization work of bye lanes has been started till date despite the matter having been brought into the notice of concerned R&B Division time and again.
Further, in view of acute and irregular supply of drinking water to the households of the area, the meeting appealed the Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Department to replace the 30 year old 2.5 inches supply pipe with 4 inches pipe as the number of consumers has substantially increased.
The meeting also appealed the Chief Engineer, PDD to ensure the uninterrupted electricity in the area as the new electric meters have since been installed in the entire area. It demanded installation a separate electric line to the pumping station situated at Bharat Nagar Bantalab in order to ensure the lifting of water to the overhead tank uninterruptedly.
