JAMMU, Sept 30: Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today lauded the role of Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti (BSS) which he said is doing a yeoman’s service in education sector.

The Union Minister, while inaugurating UT level Ganit Vigyan Mela organised by BSS here at Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Ambphalla today said gone are the days when students from elite educational institutions were competing in Civil Services and other competitive examinations. Now the students from BSS are in no way less than students coming from elite schools as they too have come up to the level of competing the Civil Services and other competitive examinations, he added.
He said the young children coming from poor background too have both capacity and capability in touching heights but they lack resources and BSS has taken an onus to itself to become a resource person for such students and with its constant support and help they are now in a position to realize their aim and prove their mettle.
Dr Jitendra Singh recalled that when the Bharatiya Vidya Mandir was set up at Ambphalla there were no such resources but it was with the dedication and hard work of the organization that it has emerged as an institute to reckon with.
He complimented the BSS for organizing such events in the UT. He especially lauded the efforts of the students coming from Kishtwar, Bhadarwah, Ramban, Doda, Udhampur, Reasi, Dadwara, Mandli Basholi who observed their scientific talent by preparing science and mathematics models based on different topics given by NCERT and Vidya Bharti on the eco friendly nature.
Around 90 modules were displayed in the Exhibition. Science Quiz , Vedic Ganit Quiz, paper reading contest and other events will also be held during the programme.
Pardeep Kumar, Member Vidya Bharti Rashtriya Karykarini, Pramulkh CSR and Archives, Ved Bhushan Sharma, president BSS J&K, Satish Mittal, vice president, Hari Bhushan, general secretary, Kanahya Pratap, Sangthan Mantri, Dr Asha Chobey, Senior Principal Scientist CSIR-IIM, Ranjana Bajaj, secretary, Pardeep Tripathi, Prant Nirikshak, Samir Krishan Sapru, office secretary, Prof Naresh Sharma, Pardeep Singh, Prant Sanyojak Vigyan, Naresh Singh, Sanyojak Ganit, Kashi Nath Raina Pramukh Vedic Ganit, Reena Rajput, Principal BVM, Ambphalla and all other Prant Samiti and School Management Committee members were present on the occasion.
The welcome address was read by Samit Krishan Sapru, office secretary. The senior team of scientists, Dr Asha Chobey, Dr Parsoon Gupta, Dr Kanahya Kumar, Dr Meer Mohammad Asrar from CSIT IIIM Jammu under the patronage of Director CSIR IIIM Jammu and Sumit Raina were the judges for the programme. Two hundred students participated in the Ganit Vigyan Mela under the guidance of 26 Science and Math teachers.
Pardeep Kumar Member Vidya Bharti Rashtriya Karykarni and Pramukh CSR and Archives highlighted the aim and objective and activates of Vidya Bharti School in J&K. he said that Vidya Bharti is running 37 recognised schools in Jammu & Kashmir
And Ladakh UTs in which 10,000 students are studying under the guidance of 600 teachers who are working with missionary zeal. He said the students of Vidya Bharti have excelled in Board results of Class 10th and 12th.
The students of BVM Ambphalla also presented the cultural programme on the occasion and the vote of thanks was proposed by Veena Rajput Principal of the School.
