‘Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav 2024’ organised by Samagra Shiksha concludes

JAMMU, Dec 11: The event ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav 2024’ organised by Samagra Shiksha, under the Department of School Education, J&K was concluded here today.
The week-long celebration showcased extraordinary performances by students from various schools across the UT.
Rakesh Magotra, Project Director Samagra Shiksha, presided over the event, with senior officers including Dr. Bilal Rashid, Deputy Director Planning and Jagdeep Padha, CEO Jammu.
In his address, Rakesh Magotra praised the vibrant performances of the students and emphasized the importance of languages in shaping personalities and preserving cultural heritage.
He highlighted the efforts of Samagra Shiksha in promoting multilingualism, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
Magotra further, stressed upon the use of regional languages in all the educational institutions and informed that to reach out to the children in all local languages, is the priority of Education Department, which shall enhance the learning outcomes and shall also increase the literacy rate across the UT.
“The implementation of National Education Policy 2020, in school emphasizes the need for recognizing and promoting multilingualism as a path to realizing the fundamental aims of education and schooling. Samagra Shiksha focuses more on holistic approach towards providing quality education integrated with Art & Culture, Sports and other domains in alignment with New Education Policy-2020,” he said.
On the concluding day, students presented cultural performances in different regional languages such as Dogri, Kashmiri, Pahari, Tamil and Sarazi, reflecting the rich linguistic diversity of J&K.
Students from Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, Reasi and Jammu participated in the event.
The event is celebrated in the memory of great nationalist Tamil Poet Sabramania Bharti, who was popularly known as “Mahakavi”, a freedom fighter and social reformer in Tamil Naidu.
Among others who attended the programme included Rameez Khan, Chief Accounts Officer, Coordinator Geetu Bangotra, Oneel Kumar Bhat (Nodal Officer, BBU), Kishore Sharma, Raj Kumar Chadha and Principal SRML School Satya Bushan.
