Bhaura’s Chanan Chetan Da hits stands

JAMMU, Aug 11: Dogri book Chanan Chetan Da written by late Bal Krishan Bhaura was released at a simple but impressive function organized by Dogri Sanstha here today.
Prof Ved Kumari Ghai was the chief guest on the occasion while the function was presided over by Desh Bandhu Dogri(Nutan). Prakash Premi a well known writer from Udhampur was the guest of honour on the occasion.
As an irony of the fate the Mr Bhaura could not see the release of the book as he passed away barely one month ago.
The Dogri Sanstha during the function also paid rich tributes to late poet. A large number of Dogri writers from Jammu, Udhampur and Painthal participated in the function besides the friends and relatives of Mr Bhaura.
In her address Prof Ved Ghai expressed the deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Mr Bhaura. She said his untimely demise was a great loss to the writers’ fraternity. She extensively made references to the poems of Mr Bhaura to make audience aware about the quality of his writing. She said the writers living in villages and remote areas have to work hard in order to achieve recognition as compared to those living in Urban areas.
Dr Ved Ghai said the real strength of the Dogri language are the people living in rural areas who speak Dogri. She urged the Dogri Sanstha to hold more literary interactions in rural areas to further strengthen the roots of Dogri.
Prakash Premi, the guest author presented a paper on the literary merits of the book and touched various nuance of the poetry of Bhaura.
In his address Desh Bandhu Dogra dwelt on the qualities of head and heart of Mr Bhaura. He narrated many anecdotes which portrayed Bhaura as a fine human being with deep sensibilities and a committed writer.
Earlier Prof Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha while welcoming the audience expressed his sorrow over the demise of Mr Bhaura and said that it is most unfortunate that he did not live to see the release of his book.
He said the poetry of Bhaura covers varied shades of human feelings which have been crafted most skillfully in his verses. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Vena Gupta, general secretary of the Sanstha.
