JAMMU, Dec 30: National Panthers Party founder Prof Bhim Singh has demanded cancellation of the recently held Assembly polls in Jammu  & Kashmir to avoid horse-trading by different political parties.
In a statement, Prof Singh  claimed that  no political party  has won the people’s mandate notwithstanding alleged  manipulation of the EVMs  by the ruling parties namely BJP and NC.
“The election to the Assembly was  held in violation of the judgment of the Supreme Court dated Oct  8, 2013 wherein the SC had held that the present EVMs system needs overhauling and must be changed to keep people’s faith in elections.  The SC had directed the Election Commission of India and the Union Government to introduced ‘paper trail’ while polling so that the voter should know whether his/her vote has been cast the way he wanted,” he said.
Prof Singh added that the only way to stop political parties a blackmail, horse-trading, money-trading and encouraging political corruption  is cancellation of the recently held polls and fresh elections by implementing the SC judegment.
“I urge the  Governor  N N  Vohra to call off talks with political parties and hold fresh election in accordance with the judgment of the SC,” he said.
