Bhim meets CEC, alleges misuse of official machinery

New Delhi, Apr 2: National Panthers Party chief patron and party candidate from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat Prof Bhim Singh met the Chief Election Commissioner of India here last evening and alleged open misuse of official machinery by the other party candidates in the Jammu and Kashmir.
A party spokesman said that during 30-minute meeting with CEC, V S Sampath, the NPP leader alleged that open misuse of official machinery has been witnessed in the electoral process in J&K. He further alleged that Congress and BJP are violating the basic code of conduct as well as interfering with the electoral process. Bhim Singh alleged that entire highway from Jammu to Poonch and Udhampur to Banihal has been decorated by the banners, flags and election flags by both the parties where election shall be held on April 10 and April 17.
Prof Bhim Singh alleged that several district election officers and AROs in Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituencies are closely related to the ministers of the ruling parties. He demanded their removal from the election work. Prof Singh also lodged a protest with the CEC on the conduct of District Election Officer Reasi who got a vehicle seized at Pouni in Reasi, only because the NPP functionary was travelling in it to attend a rally. The NPP leader urged the CEC to ensure that the polls are not rigged as the Congress and NC had done in 1988.
