Bhoti Language Day observed

LEH, Apr 2: The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh’s Council Secretariat observed Bhoti Language Day on April 1 with great enthusiasm.
The event was chaired by the Executive Councillor for RDD, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, and attended by the Executive Councillors for Art & Culture and Minority, along with councillors, nominated councillors, and office staff.
As per a statement, the attendees learned to write their names in Bhoti, promoting the language’s everyday use and encouraging officials to preserve and promote Ladakh’s cultural and linguistic heritage.
During the event, EC Tashi Namgyal Yakzee stressed the importance of raising awareness about the significance of the Bhoti language and preserving traditional knowledge and practices, it said. He highlighted Ladakh’s unique traditional knowledge system based on harmony between all communities, urging everyone to respect and preserve these traditions.
EC Stanzin Chosphel shared various initiatives taken by LAHDC Leh to promote and preserve the Bhoti language, emphasizing its role in promoting cultural diversity.
EC Ghulam Mehdi emphasized that the Bhoti language is the identity of all Ladakhis, urging everyone to take pride in their linguistic identity and work towards strengthening it.
Councillor Karma Namdak shared his experience of learning Bhoti, connecting him with Ladakhi culture and people.
Similarly, all government offices, schools, and private institutions in Leh district observed Bhoti Language Day with great enthusiasm, promoting the language’s use and preserving Ladakh’s unique cultural and linguistic heritage.
