Bhushan declines to disclose identity of whistleblower

NEW DELHI, Sept 18:
Prashant Bhushan, counsel for Center for public interest litigation (PIL), today refused to reveal the identity of whistleblower to the Supreme Court regarding allegations against Central Bureau of Investigation (CB) chief Ranjit Sinha for meeting 2G case accused persons. Mr Bhushan, in an affidavit filed in the apex court, has contended that disclosing the identity of the whistleblower may endanger his life. A bench headed by Justice H L Dattu had earlier directed Mr Bhushan to reveal the identity of the source of his information pertaining to the entry register maintained at the official residence of the CBI chief.
Mr Bhushan has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court seeking removal of Mr Sinha frorm the investigation of 2G and Coalgate scam cases for favoring and shielding the accused persons in the two cases. Mr Sinha is also facing allegations of being in constant touch with a Hawala operator Moin Qureshi. (UNI)
