‘Bicycle for Change’ Club organizes anti-drug rally

KATHUA, Oct 20: The ‘Bicycle for Change’ Club here today organized a bicycle rally themed ‘Say No To Drugs’ to raise awareness against drug abuse.
The rally was flagged off by MLA Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan and more than 500 cyclists participated in it. Welspun was main sponsor for the event with Satyam Cements, MD Pharma, Atlas Infra and Dr. Dee’s Path Lab, Sharma Carters and Tent House Kathua as co-sponsors and Radio Nation was radio partner.
Starting from Sports Stadium Kathua, the rally moved through Tangri, Dreamland Park, Shaheed Sunil Chowdhary Chowk, Jarai Morh and culminated at Mukherjee Chowk covering 5 kms.
The rally was coordinated by Department of Sports, Excise Department, Department of Information, J&K Police and JK Private School Association by providing logistical and safety support.
After rally, a cultural event was organized at Mukherjee Chowk featuring Dogri songs, Gaddayali songs, cultural dances and a Nukkad natak to raise awareness against dangers of drug abuse.
Anti-drug awareness lectures were also delivered.
Earlier the Club president, Sunil Sharma presented welcome address.
Maninder Singh, media spokesperson also spoke on the occasion.
MLA Dr. Bharat Bhushan while flagging off the rally said: “The youth is our future and we must protect them from the clutches of drugs.”
The program was attended by vice president, Rahul; Deep Sharma, additional general secretary; Narinder Singh, general secretary; Sachin Sharma, Shubham, Anan, Rahul Kad, Arun, Amu, Narinder Raina, Sidharth, Shubham, Parikshit, Manuj Kesar, Seemant Sharma and others.
