JAMMU, Sept 17: In a notable political development in Marh, Dr Virender Pal Lakhotra, the son of the late Sat Pal Lakhotra, a respected MLA from Raipur- Domana, has openly pledged his support for Mula Ram, the Congress candidate for the upcoming elections.
This endorsement is expected to significantly boost Mula Ram’s campaign and sway public opinion in favour of the Congress party in the Marh block.
Dr Lakhotra, who holds considerable influence within the Batwal community in the Marh region, has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the current ruling party, BJP. In a bid to intensify the election campaign, Mula Ram has been actively engaging with voters across various villages in Marh.
He has addressed multiple meetings in key areas, including Sandwan, Jaffer Chak, Saharan, Patanayal, Shezadpur, Chouhan Chak, Rattanpur, Gangochak, Chatta Gujra, Nagbani, and Kulley Halqa.
These interactions are designed to connect with voters on a personal level, address their concerns, and present the Congress party’s vision for the future.
Welcoming the support, Mula Ram, expressed his strong discontent with the current BJP administration’s handling of smart meters and taxes in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The issues related to smart meters and taxes are being “locked in BJP offices,” indicating that the party is avoiding or mishandling these critical matters that reflect widespread frustration among the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the BJP’s policies,” Mula Ram said.
Mula Ram criticized the BJP for making life increasingly difficult for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
He pointed out that the implementation of smart meters and the taxation policies have exacerbated the hardships faced by ordinary citizens. Smart meters, intended to provide more accurate billing and reduce energy theft, have instead been a source of significant inconvenience and financial strain for many, he said adding that similarly, new tax regulations have added to the burden on the populace, contributing to a sense of discontent and injustice.
The campaign has garnered further support from several notable figures, Madan Lal Bhagat, former BDC chairman of Phallain Mandal, Charanjeet Singh, Balkar Singh, Bhushan Sharma, Ghar Singh, former Corporator of Akalpur, and Er. Rajinder Kumar Happy have all spoken in favour of Mula Ram.
