Srinagar, Aug 8: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today carried out the biggest ever crackdown in Kashmir against Jamat-e-Islami leaders in a terror funding case.
Four former heads of the banned religious organization were among those raided in Kashmir.
The raids were conducted this morning after several NIA teams arrived in Srinagar for the last 10 days and they had booked around 140 vehicles for carrying out such searches. They were assisted by Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF.
The NIA conducted raids at the residence of former JeI Amir, Mohammad Abdullah Wani of Wadwan in district Budgam at his present residence in Mander Bagh Baghat Srinagar.
The raids were also conducted at the residences of JeI leaders Zahoor Ahmad Reshi and Mehrajdin Reshi sons of Mohammad Afzal Reshi in Safapora area of Bandipora district.
The NIA also raided residence of two Jamat-e-Islami leaders including former JeI Ameer Ghulam Hassan Shiekh son of Saifullah Shiekh of Tarigam in district Kulgam and District Ameer of the JeI Mohammad Yosuf Rather son of Ghulam Ahmad Rather of Bolsoo in district Kulgam.
They also raided house of Jamat leader Abdul Hameed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Batwina in district Ganderbal.
The raids were also conducted at Manigam in Lar area of Ganderbal district at house of Gull Mohammad War who was former JeI Ameer for district Ganderbal.
They also raided three residences of three JeI leaders in Soaf Shali, Lohersenzi and Sund Brari villages Kokernag in district Anantnag.
They also raided residence of Peer Gayasudin Shah son of Ghulam Hassan Shah of Wagoora in district Baramulla. Shah was former Ameer of Wagoora Tehsil in district Baramulla.
The residence of Dr Mohammad Sultan Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Soibugh, a senior Jamaat leader was also raided. Bhat is presently staying in Pakistan since 2019.
The NIA also raided house of senior Jamat leader Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh of Maldera in Shopian district. He was also former militant associated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
They also raided the house of Riyaz Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Yaseen Ganie of Nadigam in Shopian district of South Kashmir. He is brother of Fayaz Hamid Ganie, the Ameer Jamat Islami who is detained under Public Safety Act.
The NIA also raided the residence of JeI leader Faheem Ramzan in Lal Bazaar area of Srinagar. The house of JeI leader Bashir Lone at Harwan in district Srinagar was also raided.
The NIA raided at the residence of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat son of Mohammad Jaffar Bhat at HIG Colony in Bemina area of Srinagar.
