Bihar Assembly election: Over 12 pc turnout till 0900 hrs

PATNA: More than 12 per cent electorate exercised their franchise in first two hours of polling in 55 constituencies across the state in the fourth phase of Bihar assembly elections amid sporadic incidents at few places.
As per reports, in Sheohar police resorted to lathi charge to disperse trouble mongers who disrupted polling at booth number 50.
Attempt was being made to start polling again. In Raxaul, a homeguard jawan, who was on duty at booth number 69, died of heart attack this morning.
His body was sent for post-mortem. The deceased was a native of Gaya district. Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Laxmanan said no major incident was reported from any part of the state. The polling for first three phases was held on October 12, 16, and 28 in a total of 131 of 243 seats. The fifth and final phase of elections is on November 5 and the results would be declared on November 8. (AGENCIES)
