JAMMU, May 31: In a significant breakthrough, the police in Jammu’s Miran Sahib Area has successfully apprehended a notorious bike lifter and recovered two stolen motorcycles.
A police spokesperson said that the arrest comes after a complaint was lodged by Vikay Kumar, resident of Krishna Nagar Basti Maralian, Miran Sahib Tehsil, regarding the theft of his motorcycle with the registration number JK02AU-4664.
Promptly registering the case (FIR No. 107/2023) under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, the police initiated an investigation into the matter, he said.
Under the guidance of SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, and with the assistance of SHO Miran Sahib, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, he said, dedicated police teams tirelessly worked on the case.
Utilizing the available CCTV footage from the vicinity, the police spokesperson further said that the investigators managed to identify and apprehend the prime suspect, Zakir Hussain of Kotli Mian Fateh.
Acting on his disclosure, he said, the stolen motorcycle with the registration number JK02AU-4664 was recovered.
Additionally, another motorcycle was also found in his possession.
The police have intensified their efforts to gather further evidence and are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
