Bike lifters’ gang busted

JAMMU, Mar 4: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed on Saturday that they have busted a gang of bike lifters and recovered from their possession 13 stolen bikes and scooties.
A police spokesperson said that a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Narwal by one Krishna Gupta son of Krishan Lal of Sanjay Nagar, Jammu stating therein that his scooty (JK02CA-9736) got stolen from Malik Market area.
Accordingly, he said a case FIR number 80/2023 was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation taken up.
During investigation, the police spokesperson said that two suspects, Ripu Dhaman of Mubarak Mandi and Gautam Mehra of Old Rehari were detained for questioning, who confessed to their involvement in theft of the scooty.
“During further questioning, the accused confessed their involvement in other cases of theft. Accordingly all the stolen vehicles were recovered,” he said.
