Billawar deputation calls on DC Kathua

KATHUA, May 3: A deputation of Cow Protection Committee and prominent citizens from of tehsil Billawar called on District Development Commissioner Kathua today and demanded the resolution of cow slaughter issue of Mandli village which took place in recent past and has hurt the sentiments of the people.
The members of the deputation said that two cow slaughters took place in the area in recent past one was at Bhaddu village and other was at Mandli. While that of Bhaddu village was solved by police to the best satisfaction of the people the other one hit the political maneuvering.
They said that Billawar has a far superior claim for the district status. The deputation demanded that till the Billawar is given district status it should be compensated by providing a toll tunnel of ¾ kms of length through Sunderikot Shivalik ridge. It is a feasible project without involving any Government financing and if accomplished has a immense tangible and intangible benefits of serving Udhampur-Kashmir and Bani Basohli- Bhaderwah-Kishtwar road circuits saving Jammu city of fossil fuel pollution as well.
They said there is no reason for Government in not taking up the highly viable project in face of deplorable conditions of Dayalachak, Katli, Machhedi roads.
It said Panjtirthi reservoir Project as reported has set in huge commotion among public of thickly populated areas involved.
It said the roads in tehsil Billawar constructed under PMGSY yojna whenever constructed, the amount payable as compensation cost thereof, has not been disbursed in spite of receipt of fund.
