KATHUA, Dec 22: Kuldeep Singh of Chinji Makwal village in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district who was released from Pakistan jail after being sentenced for 29 years reached Amritsar in neighboring State of Punjab yesterday.
He was jailed in Pakistani after mistakenly crossing the border about 29 years back.
Kuldeep, who was released from Pakistani jail reached Amritsar via Wagah border yesterday and he was received by his son, Amit and sister in-law, Rukhmani who immediately rushed from Billawar to Amritsar in Punjab after receiving the message of his release.
The family and relatives’ joy knew no bounds after they got the message about the release of Kuldeep and there were emotional scenes after the son and his sister in law met him near about three decades.
Rukhmani called her elder sister Urmila wife of Kuldeep from Amritsar on phone and informed her about safe return of her husband. Urmila, who has been waiting for return of her husband for 29 long years was in jubilant mood after receiving the news and was looking towards the door in her native village Chinji Makwal near here to welcome her husband.
Although the relatives don’t know when Kuldeep will reach his home but they are relieved of all worries after getting the message that he has reached Amritsar safely and hope their quick reunion with Kuldeep.
