JAMMU, June 26: Former Deputy Mayor Jammu and senior BJP leader, Baldev Singh Billawaria, while opening a front against the Electricity Department, declared the Department a complete failure. He said that the Department is misleading the people totally on power issue.
Addressing a press conference, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the Electricity Department says that it has excess power, if there is excess power, then why are people in distress due to power cuts in the Jammu city. He said that the power system in Jammu region seems to be completely stalled due to unannounced power cuts for the last several days and the common people are very angry due to unannounced power cuts.
He said that sometimes the power remains off for the whole day, due to which people have to face many problems. Billawaria said that a few days ago, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha had ordered the Electricity Department to provide electricity to the people “24×7″ in the areas where smart meters have been installed. He said that the Department is working contrary to this, where smart meters have been installed, people face more power cuts. He also said that since the electricity of Gangyal region is connected to the Bishnah area grid by the Department, people often face problem of faults and blackouts.
He said that the Department should transfer the electricity of Gangyal region from Bishnah Grid to Babliana Grid so that people can get relief from unscheduled long power cuts. He said that if the Department does this, the load of electricity will be reduced and people will get adequate electricity.
Billawaria further expressed confidence that Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha will take cognizance of this matter and will provide relief to the people from the unannounced power cuts. Ranjit Singh, Ravi Bakshi, Ajay Pratap Singh, Ashok Sharma were present in the press conference.
