Bimla Luthra highlights women’s role in upcoming Assembly polls

UDHAMPUR, Aug 2: A crucial meeting of the Women Wing of J&K National Conference (JKNC) district Udhampur Urban under the leadership of Sunita Mehra was held in Udhampur where Bimla Luthra, State vice president of JKNC and former MLA, was the chief guest.
The meeting attended by a large number of women party workers and leaders, focused on the significant role women are expected to play in the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sunita Mehra, district president Udhampur of NC’s Women Wing, highlighted the difficulties faced by women under the current Government, emphasizing the dire lack of healthcare facilities in rural and remote areas, particularly the non-availability of women doctors. She expressed concerns over the absence of basic amenities and the lack of opportunities for women entrepreneurs. She pointed out that regions such as Dudu, Basantgarh, Pancheri, and other remote areas of Udhampur district are severely deprived of development.
Addressing the party workers, Bimla Luthra expressed deep anguish over the Government’s neglect of these far-flung areas on the development front. She criticized the current administration for failing to address these critical issues and for its overall neglect of the developmental needs of the region. She noted the persistent shortage of ration and the poor condition of roads, especially the crucial stretch from Ram Nagar to Dudu- Basantgarh.
The senior NC leader highlighted the key initiatives and significant progress made during their regime in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. She recalled the equitable development policies and the numerous welfare schemes that had been implemented to uplift the socio-economic status of the people, particularly women. She urged the women to actively participate in the upcoming Assembly elections, stressing their vital role in shaping the future of the region.
Sunil Verma, district president Udhampur Urban called upon the party workers to come forward and strengthen the hands of Party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah.
Pinky Khalsa, District president Jammu Urban Women wing and Joginder Kour, District vice president also spoke on the occasion.
Among those who were present include Akash Verma, Radha Rani, Samtri Devi, Capt Rattan Singh, Capt Nand Lal, Ch Abdul Rashid and others.
