This has reference to the news item regarding setting up of a biodiversity board in the state. The creation of a biodiversity board is quite significant in view of the rich flora and fauna wealth existing in the State.
Biodiversity is most directly related to the everyday lives of state’s ecosystem people.Many fishermen,herders, and hunter-gatherers depend on the diversity of species,genetic varieties and ecosystem services for their livelihoods and cultural lives.It makes available to them their fuel,fodder for livestock,housing materials, medicine. Therefore loss of biodiversity means attack on their livelihood.
The setting up of the Board will play an important role in taking care of those directly or indirectly related to biodiversity. Besides we have to ensure that economic development and conservation of biodiverse life should go side by side.One aspect can not be sacrificed at the cost of the other.American native Seattle has rightly warned that when all the eagles and fish are gone and the waters killed by pollution,only then will peopleknow that money can not be eaten.
