JAMMU, Apr 13: Different organisations here today celebrated birth anniversary of legendary warrior, General Zorawar Singh.
General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust-Headed by Diksha Kalhuria and Riya Kalhuria, from sixth generation of the General’s family clan organised a programme to celebrate birth anniversary of General Zorawar Singh.
The programme concluded after seven days of Bhagvat Katha after which rich tribute were paid to the General by performing Havan at Reasi below the statue of the General where people from all sections of the society participated.
Army’s 12 JAK Rifles presented Guard of Honour with pipe band. Apart from this DM Reasi, Babila Rakwal paid respect to the General by offering Festoon.

Riya Kalhuria said they always promote talent through platform of the Trust and this year they introduced talented siblings Ram-Lakshman who are blessed by amazing voice.
Special Guest on this occasion was president Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan, Ch. Lal Singh while Social Activist & Chairman KCWT, Chandan Datta; Chairman Parivartan Ek Soch, Atul Gupta, Media Advisor Vishal Sharma, Dy.SP Akhtyar Ahmed, Assistant Director Tourism, Ambhika Bali were also present on the occasion.
The NCC Unit of Govt. Maulana Azad Memorial College Jammu in collaboration with 7 JAK Rifles celebrated General Zorawar Singh’s birth anniversary at General Zorawar Singh Park, Jammu under the guidance of College Principal and supervision of Major Prof. (Dr.) Karan Singh, Associate NCC Officer of the College. Chief Guest on the occasion was General G.S Jamwal (Retd.) who along with other dignitaries paid floral tribute to the statue of General Zorawar Singh.
Principal Prof. (Dr) G.S Rakwal and Col. R.S Jasrotia also spoke on the occasion while Major General Neeraj Gosain GOC, Brig Anil Mahadev Kakade and Brig A.P Singh were also present on the occasion and Prof. Shiv Kumar, Prof. Harbhajan Singh and Prof. Dheeraj Kumar were instrumental in organising this event.
J&K Ex-Services League offered floral tributes to one of the greatest Dogra Generals, General Zorawar Singh who helped Maharaja Gulab Singh in founding the State of J&K. The League celebrated birth anniversary of General Zorawar Singh on April 13 every year as JAK Rifles Regimental Day.
Maj. Gen. Neeraj Gosain, GOC Tiger Division, Maj. Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, President J&K Ex-Services League, officers and veterans paid their tributes.
Visit of students of border villages was also organized at JAK War Memorial, Satwari to educate them about the history of the JAK Rifles from Maharaja Gulab Singh and General Zorawar Singh to Maharaja Hari Singh and Brig. Rajindra Singh who saved the State in 1947. It has replica of Mantalai Flag captured by Fateh Shibji, now 4 JAK Rifles, under General Zorawar Singh.
General Zorawar Singh under Maharaja Gulab Singh extended the frontiers of the country across Himalayas to include Ladakh, Baltistan and parts of China and Tibet which created a strategic depth across the Himalayas.
