JAMMU, May 25: A grand religious function was organised to commemorate 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji at Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Chand Nagar, Lower Gumat here today.
The programme was organised by Guru Nanak Sewa Charitable Trust and Bhai Jagtar Singh Mukh Sewadar Guru Nanak International Kirtan Council under the patronage of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, with the cooperation of District Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee and S. Tarlochan Singh Wazir Chairman, State Gurudwara Parbhandhak Board.
A large number of devotees from different parts of the State paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sahib to seek the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Prominent ‘Parcharaks’ and ‘Ragi Jathas’ from outside the State including Bhai Lakhwinder Singh ji Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib & Bhai Manider Singh ji Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib recited Shabad Kirtans and threw light on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and called upon devotees to follow the path shown by great Guru who setup a unique spiritual and social platform based on equality, fraternal love, goodness and virtue.
While addressing gathering Gobind Singh Longowal, president Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee, Amritsar appreciated the role of the Guru Nanak Sewa Charitable Trust for organising such a wonderful programme which connects the youths and adolescents with the religious teachings and helps in inculcating the moral and spiritual values which in the present scenario will keep the youth away from the menace of drugs and immorality.
Besides various Ragi Jathas and Parcharaks some important dignitaries who came from outside the State includes Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president Sikh Gurudwara Management Committe Delhi & Member Legislative Assembly Delhi, Sukhwarsh Singh Pannu Executive member Dharam Parchar Committee, Jasvinder Singh Deenpur Manager Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Rajinder Singh Padham Pardhan Antarashtriya Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Society Batala, Narinder Singh Barra Ex-member SGPC and Gurinder Pal Singh Gora, member SGPC.
Twenty five candidates out of top 50 contestants of “Koun Banega Gursikh Pyara” were given cash prize of Rs 10,000 each. The names of the two top winners who will be given two Alto cars, sponsored by S. Baldev Singh MD Peaks Auto and cash prizes worth lakhs of rupees were to be given to the next six contestants late this evening. The function will concluded midnight.
