JAMMU, Nov 15: The birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru was celebrated with zeal.
NSS volunteers of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar celebrated Children Day at Orphan Home, Ambphalla. Volunteers in their speeches threw light on the life and teachings of Jawahar Lal Nehru. Dr Shiveta Gandotra, NSS Programme Officer and KK Mengi, secretary of Ved Mandir Committee were also present. In her message, Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the college said that education of children especially orphans will be the real tributes to Pandit Nehru.
Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education, Lakhanpur celebrated Children Day. Floral tributes were paid to Jawahar Lal Nehru, followed by speeches on life and teachings of Pandit Nehru. Principal Manjeet Kaur highlighted the contribution of Jawahar Lal Nehru in Indian freedom struggle. Later, sweets were distributed among the students.
JK Police Public School, Miran Sahib celebrated Children Day. Principal Kiran Raina along with Vice Principal, faculty members and students paid rich tributes to Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 124th birth anniversary. Principal and teachers threw light on the teachings of different religions, followed by short modeling session, poem recitation and magic show. Later, gifts were presented to the students.
Apple Kids International Pre School, Gandhi Nagar celebrated the birth anniversary of Jawahar Lal Nehru popularly known as ‘Children Day’ with pomp and show. Principal Jagjeet Kaur in her speech emphasized on the importance of the day. Sweets and gifts were distributed among the students.
To celebrate Children Day, 245th Children Day Tree Talk was hosted by OP Sharma CCF Ecotourism in collaboration with JK Montessori Public School Talab Tillo and Krishna Anand Public School in Manda Deer Park wherein students and teachers participated in nature walk and tree talk session. Samina Charoo, research officer, Tahir Mirza, Law officer, Manjit Singh, social activist and Hitaishi Sharma TPO Jammu highlighted need of nature conservation in its entirety.
On the occasion of Children Day, Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) organised a ‘Special Medical Camp for Children’ at Government High School, Chilot, Bihota. The camp was inaugurated by Harshad, Sarpanch of Chilot in presence of Rajesh Kumar, Forest representative, Ijaz Hussain, Headmaster and Teacher Gulam Mustafa of Government High School, Chilot. A medical team comprising of Medical Officer from the Army and Civil Doctor Dr Ghulam Hussian provided much needed specialized medical cover to the children.
A colourful programme was organized by Rotary Club Jammu to celebrate Children Day at Spring Blossom High School, Janipur. A debate competition was sorganised, in which students participated and spoke on the life and teachings of Jawahar Lal Nehru. Students also presented stage show. President Rotary Club Jammu RK Chauhan threw light on the life of Pandit Nehru. Later prizes were distributed among the winners.
