JAMMU, Mar 8: Arya Pratinidhi Sabha J&K led by its president, Arun Chowdhary today celebrated 197th birth anniversary of founder of Arya Samaj—Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji at Arya Samaj Mandir, Rehari Colony.
Presidents, general secretaries and members of all the Arya Samajs of J&K celebrated the event jointly with tremendous enthusiasm and fervour.
The programme began with Vedic Hawan amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns by Pt Chain Lal and after this rich tributes were paid to Swami Dayanand Saraswati Ji
by Asst. Prof. Pratibha Purandhi, Kuldeep Gupta, president Arya Samaj Kotli Colony and others.
Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji undertook various initiatives in tackling Sati Pratha, casteism and worked for woman empowerment besides pioneering India’s freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion president Arya Pratinidhi Sabha J&K, Arun Chowdhary said preaching of Swami Dayanand Saraswati Ji are still relevant in the tough times the world is facing today.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Bharat Bhushan Gupta, president Arya Samaj Trikuta Nagar, Arun Kumar Gupta, president Arya Samaj Dayanand Marg City Chowk, Ravi Kant Gupta, president Arya Samaj Bakshi Nagar and Nitin Malhotra, president Arya Samaj Gandhi Nagar.
After the culmination of the event, Rishi Langar was organized.
