RAMBAN, Feb 12: Arya Samaj Rehari Colony here today celebrated the 200th birth anniversary of legendary reformer and founder of Arya Samaj—Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji.
The celebrations started with a Yagya amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns in the morning which was followed by recitation of devotional songs.
Different speakers on this occasion threw light on the reformatory works done by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji wherein he ushered to an era of equality for women and other neglected sections of the society and enlightened the nation by the knowledge of Vedas.
They said that Swami Ji fought against wrong rituals prevailing at that time and faced stiff and even violent resistance from the so called custodians of faith.
“He revived the culture of logical thinking, Gurukuls, Gousahalas and stressed on education for all,” they maintained.
A free eye camp was also organized on this occasion after which a Rishi Langer was served to the devotees and others.
