Birth anniversary of Sir Chottu Ram celebrated

SAMBA, Mar 27: Sir Chottu Ram Jat Charitable Trust paid rich tributes to Sir Chottu Ram on his 135th birth anniversary at Thandi Khui, tehsil Vijaypur.
On the occasion, the ground floor of Sir Chotu Ram Bhawan was inaugurated.
The progamme was organized by the General Secretary of the trust Kamal Singh.
Dharamvir Singh, MP from Haryana, presided over the event, while Birender Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development was the chief guest. Babu Lal Jat from Fatehpur, Member Parliament from UP, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member Parliament, Dr Mohinder Singh Malik, Ex DGP, President Chandigarh Jat Mahasabha, Sukhnandan Choudhary, Former Minister, Chander Prakash Ganga, Former Minister, Surinder Choudhary, Ramesh Arora, besides many others were present on the occasion.
The speakers in their speeches threw light on the life of Sir Chottu Ram.
They also projected their demands including implementation of the recommendation of Joint Parliamentary Committee for compensation to the refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 as one time settlement, special reservation to border youths in Army and Para Military forces with concession in physical standards and education, 20 per cent reservation to border residents in Government services, opening of hospitals and central school in border areas, people who were killed during tension and turmoil on the border be given Rs 50 lakh compensation along with Government service to the kin of deceased person.
They also demanded development of Suchetgarh border out post in RS Pura on the pattern of Waggah Border, compensation of the land falling ahead of border fencing, proper rates to farmers of their produce and their crops should be covered under insurance in case of any loss due to natural calamities.
