KATHUA, Apr 9: The 445th birthday of Goswami Guru Nabha Dass Ji was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at Kathua today.
The function was organized under the overall guidance of Som Nath, district. president of All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha.
The programme started with havan Yagya and religious procession in which more than five thousand devotees were present. They chanted bhajans and took out a Shoba yatra exhibiting jankies to depict various aspects of life and teachings of Goswami Guru Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj.
The religious procession culminated at Mandir near Dr. B.R. Ambedkar bridge, Kathua.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, former ADC, Kathua and D.C. Sagotra, retired, District and Sessions Judge and S.R. Majotra senior political leader were the distinguished guests on the occasion who paid floral tributes to Guru Maharaj.
Som Nath, district president of MSS Kathua informed the gathering that Guru Ji has authored “Bhakatmal Granth” which has described the life and teachings of saints prior to 16th century. He exhorted the people to follow the path of righteousness shown by Guru Ji and asked them to educate the children so that they can become self reliant and serve the society well.
Dr. Shiv Kumar, retired Deputy Director Sheep Husbandry, Balak Ram Rasotra, retired Administrative Officer, Dr. C.R.Munday, Retd. Deputy Director Ayush, (President of Ravi Dass Sabha), president of Kabir Sabha, Lok Nath Dogra, retired district Agriculture Officer, Dr. Kartar Verma president Prajapati Sabha and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
Som Nath Majotra, senior political leader complimented all those who were present on the occasion. He also complimented district administration for assisting in organization of the programme. The meritorious students were honoured on the occasion. Later devotes were served Guru Ka langer.
