JAMMU, Feb 25: The 647th birthday of Sant Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj was celebrated with religious fervour in a function held at Rajpura Mangotrian, Jammu here today.
A large number of devotees along with their families participated in the programme from various parts of Jammu. While paying floral tributes to the great Saint, former Minister and senior BJP leader, Sat Sharma threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji. Sat claimed that he was duty bound for the up-liftment of the poor and down trodden members of the society and will continue to work for their welfare.
Dwelling upon the life and teachings of great Guru, Surinder Choudhary Ex-Corporator, DCC president Jammu Urban Th Manmohan Singh, Zorawar Singh, Chairman Team Jammu, Dev Raj Angral chairman and Rashpal Digra president All J&K Dr Ambedkar Welfare Forum recalled the eventful life of Guru Ravi Dass Ji and said that he emerged as a beacon light at the time when the society was engulfed by darkness. They said teachings of the great Guru are most relevant even today.
Rumalo Ram and Saras Bharti presented cultural performance and enthralled the audience with their devotional songs on the occasion.
Mangal Dass Dogra, president of the Sabha presented vote of thanks. Prominent among others present on the occasion included-Surinder Kakkar, Ganesh Dass, Ramesh Angurana, Gouri Lal, Bishan Dass, Bansi Lal, Vijay Kumar Thappa, Sohan Lal Rana, Mohan Lal Bavoria, Ashok Kumar and others.
Meanwhile, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bhalesar also celebrated 647th Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Ravi Dass ji Maharaj today. The celebration commenced with Bhajan Kirtan and address by some prominent community persons on the life and teachings of great Guru. Guru Ka Langar was also served to the devotees. A large number of people from the area attended the programme which was organized under the leadership of Raju Bassan, Rohit Bhushan and others. Kulbeeer Chahal and Raju Kalsotra also spoke on the occasion.
