JAMMU, Feb 16: The 648th Birthday of Shree Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, a revolutionary saint of India, was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety, here today.
The event was attended by a large number of devotees from different parts of the Jammu region.
Paying their tribute to the great saint, Sat Sharma (CA), BJP State president/ex-Minister and Arvind Gupta, MLA threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Ji and stressed upon the gathering to follow the teachings of Guru Ji Maharaj.
Dwelling upon the life and teaching of Guru Ji, Zorawar Singh, Dev Raj Angral and Ramesh Angurana referred to the great role played by Guru Ji in ensuring that all segments of the society live with honour and dignity.
A similar function was also organized at Guru Ravidas Temple in Gho Manhasa.
Speaking on the occasion, Balbir Ram Rattan, national general secretary of Guru Ravidas Vishwa Mahapeeth and member of Begampura Vishwa Mahasabha said that Guru Ravidas Ji conveyed a significant message of social equality and justice by stating that there should be no place for caste discrimination in devotion to God and in service to humanity.
“The life of Guru Ravidas teaches us that everyone in the society should have equal rights and opportunities,” Balbir maintained adding: “To eliminate caste-based discrimination and the narrow mindset of superiority and inferiority, we must follow the teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji.”
Rajinder Singh Chib, former president of Gho Manhasa Municipal Committee emphasized the need to spread message of Guru Ravidass to masses.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Banarsi Lal, Yash Pal Angural, Sanjay Bakshi, Saul Singh, Tandav Dutt, Vijay Kumar, Madan Lal, Trilochan Singh, Harnam Singh, Bachan Lal, Rakesh Singh, Ghar Singh, Surinder Kakkar, Ganesh Dass, Gouri Lal, Rashpal Digra, Bishan Dass, Bansi Lal, Vijay Kumar Thapa, Madan Lal, Mohinder Pal, Ashok Kumar, Dalip Thapa, Sonu Kumar Chalotra, Pishori Lal, Abhi Angural, Ashok Langey, Mohan Lal Bavoria, Rattan Lal, Vicky Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar Loach, Tarsem Loach and Ashok Angral.
