BIS conducts mentors training programme

PATHANKOT, Aug 18: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), J&K Branch Office (JKBO) organized a first hybrid mode two-day residential training programme for mentors of Standard Clubs on August 17-18 at Pathankot.
The programme was attended by mentors of 82 Standard Clubs through hybrid mode.
Rajesh Kumar, District Education Officer (SE), Pathankot was chief guest and in his keynote address he said that in present consumerism oriented digital era, quality assurance has become very significant.
“BIS JKBO has established more than 270 Standard Clubs in educational institutions of J&K and Punjab (6 Districts of Punjab) with an aim to develop scientific approach among students in their daily life,” he maintained.
Highlighting the objectives of the programme and explaining BIS activities, Tilak Raj, Director and Head, JKBO stated that children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.
During the training technical lectures on overview of BIS activities, concepts of quality and standardization at national and international level, types of standardization and standards, benefits of standardization, objectives and guidelines for Standard Clubs, role and responsibilities of mentors were delivered by Hitesh Yadav, Scientist B of BIS-JKBO.
Features of BIS Website, Manakonline Portal, Know Your Standards portal for free download of Indian Standards and BIS Care App were also demonstrated to the participants with examples during the training and this was followed by classroom/ group activity on Standard Writing on a variety of subjects.
The Training Programme was coordinated by Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS JKBO.
