BIS-JKBO seizes non-ISI marked toys

JAMMU, Jan 11: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office conducted a raid at Toy Shop on Shalamar Road and seized non ISI marked toys, here today.
The enforcement raid was conducted by Nisha Bura, Pankaj Atri Joint Directors and Mahesh Chandra, Section Officer of BIS JKBO. During the raid, substantial quantities of substandard non-ISI marked toys were seized.
It has been observed that non-ISI marked toys are being imported especially from China and sold to common consumers for huge profit keeping the safety of children at stake.

The consumers are therefore requested to buy only ISI marked toys and they can verify the authenticity of ISI mark through BIS Care App. In case of any instance of misuse of ISI Mark/Non-ISI Marked toys, complaints can be easily registered on BIS Care App.
BIS JKBO is further planning to conduct more raids to crackdown on such products to protect consumer interest.
The raid was conducted to check the violation of the toys (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2020 issued by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under which import, manufacture, storage and sale of non-ISI marked toys for use in play by children under 14 years shall bear the ISI standard mark has been banned since 1st January 2021.
